Exploring the Surface

A Single Moment in Time

A single moment in time, captured in the molten glaze as it moved across the surface during firing.  Lava-like flows that draw your eye to the surface and beyond.  Depth and relected light give each piece a life of its own.  Captured movement sparkles in each piece and adds a new dimension of appreciation for hand-made everyday items.

In the Eye of the Beholder

Clay has gotten under my nails.  It is as old as dirt, but at the same time new and refreshing.

The addition of texture and form to colour and light has added a new dimension to my view.Contained in these pages are some examples of some of my creations.  You may not see what I see, but that is ok.  As they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I

I have always been intrigued with the contrast of light and dark.  Now I have added form and texture and new colours to explore.

My Journey ... Growing up, I was one of those kids that loved to play in the water. To make mudpies from the clay in my mom's garden. I loved to watch the flames in the fireplace as they licked around a hardwood log resting on a bed of glowing coals in the winter time. Water, clay and fire, you might say that I was destined to be a potter. It was many years before I actually started working in clay, but the seeds had been there all along.

... the Journey Continues ... A visit to a local potters studio in the summer of 2005, sparked my interest so I researched the area resources and enrolled in a beginners course offered by Fanshawe College. After my first class, I knew I was where I wanted to be, so I joined the London Potters Guild. The learning and the fun have not stopped. I have so many things that I want to do that it is sometimes hard to know where to start. The fun never stops for me.
